SP BP Mentoring Club

Leadership Camp 2011
Hi everyone! Before starting off this post, we would like to inform you that we have officially appointed 22 awesome individuals as our Sub-Committee(SC) .

The 11th Management Committee has decided to commemorate the appointment by planning a 2D1N Leadership Camp for our SC to instil leadership skills while at the same time preparing them for the journey ahead.

The camp was really fun where we had a lot of activities lined up for them!

Day 1
The ‘amazing race like’ activities that were lined up tested their leadership skills while at the same time fostered friendships between them. There were also intervals for reflection to better enhance the message of the games.
We also had night activities which was a night walk in the chalet ( yes, we had our campers safety in mind! (read: scared) Hahaha!) Before completing the mini-night walk, a few leadership games were being played to highlight the importance of communication. The night walk thereafter, tested their communication skills with each other.

Day 2
The day was kick started with a 15 min jog at Pasir Ris Park and boy, were our campers charged up! They managed to finish the jog and we were very proud of them. We were also very proud of Marcus for pulling through his injury with a smile ! It was a good start for the day (except for the several MC’s whose physical activity level were next to zero. Hahaha!)

Following that, we had … guess the word! No, its not food. Hahaha. Games ! And following that, our SC’s had a personal one to one and for some two to one lunch ‘date’ with our MC’s for them to better get to know each other and share experiences. It was really nice getting to know our SC’s personally (:

A discussion was also held for our SC’s to better understand the SC journey and for them to ask questions that they may have regarding mentoring. The discussion truly benefited both the SC and the MC as we understood both the needs of each side 
The last activity called for their planning capabilities whereby our SC’s were given $200 to buy BBQ products for the BBQ which would be held at night! And we sure did bought a ton of things! Hahaha!

The BBQ was held to celebrate the end of the leadership camp and the start of the SC journey for them!
We were glad that the camp fostered better bonds between everyone and that the SC’s are better informed about the challenges ahead!

With that, best of luck SC's :D

SP BP Mentoring 11th Anniversary 2011
Our annual SP BP Anniversary was held to commemorate the birth of SP BP Mentoring. It was on this day that this club was being started up. Now, 11 years down the road, the club has blossomed into one strong CCA which has met its fair share of challenges.

The event was graced by Ms Lynda Goh, BP Representative, Mr Arthur Poh, Director Department of Student Development and Mr David Lee , Officer-In-Charge , SP BP Mentoring Club. We are heartened and delighted by their presence.

Also not to forget, our very own mentors, mentees ,previous management committees, BP NP Mentoring and In-Between-The-Lines.
The event was kick started with a short video clip encompassing all the events that have been organized during the past year which brought memories and laughters to many.

Performances were lined up to entertain our guests and mentors with internal and external performers performing. We sure did enjoyed ourselves and Mr Poh even took a video of our performance, uploading it to the Facebook account of Student Development! Yup, the performance was that good! Hahaha!
The event also recgonised the efforts of mentors therefore, the gold, silver and bronze award was being presented to mentors who have met a certain requirement , to acknowledge their efforts.

Also, for the very first time, we have also presented Outstanding awards to our very own mentors, Syafiq and Khairul for their efforts despite not being in a committee.
Following that, our favourite part of the whole event. FOOD! Kidding! But, yes. It was food time where a wide selection of food was being served. The éclairs were so good we couldn’t resist it! Hahaha!

Right after lunch, we had prepared game stalls for our mentees to play educational games and at the same time enjoy themselves. Judging from the smiles on their faces, I bet they did enjoy ! Especially after redeeming presents from the gift counter!
It was truly an enjoyable day for all and we sure did have fun organizing it!

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank all mentors who volunteered to help out for this event, BP NP Mentoring Club for taking time off to attend our event , In-Between-The-Lines for coming down to perform and our internal performers for taking your busy shecdule off to practice and perform. Also not forgetting our GOH , Mr Arthur Poh, Ms Lynda Goh and Mr David Lee.

We look forward to a better year ahead! 
FUNtastic Camp 2011

In line with the title of this camp, FUNtastic Camp was truly FUN!

Held on 6th October 2011, this camp was planned in the hope of bonding the mentors. We do hope it did what it was supposed to!

The camp was filled with activities requiring teamwork and getting to know each other's strength and weaknesses. Ultimately, knowing each other.

There was an incident which dampen most of our moods ( campers and organising commitee) which was, the weather. As we filled our water bombs, ready to get down and dirty, lighting struck and we had to ultimately cancel the activity.

However, resilient as we are always known to be, we cheered ourselves up by planning for performances , which serves as a closure for the whole camp.

And boy, was it entertaining ! Want more prove? Look at the pictures below!

But before that, I would like to thank all the organizing commitee for their hard work and of course the campers for making this camp a success! :)

Have a good day! :)

Bonding Session 2011
It was an event anticipated by the 11th Management Committee as it was the first time we were given the chance to interact with the new mentors. The day was filled with a lot of ice-breaker games, aimed at breaking the ice (not literally!) , between both the mentors and the committee.

The day started off with a formal introduction of the committee by our club president, Nabilah . Following which, the new mentors were divided into their respective schools (which they are appointed to), where they were given a chance to interact with each other and also to get to know their school coordinators.

Few ice breaker games were played , where laughter’s dominated the atmosphere , eventually breaking the ice between the new mentors.

The mentors were then grouped back together to play mass games to allow them to get to know people from other schools.

We were glad that the event went by smoothly! We hope that everyone had fun on this very day, as we know, we did J

As always, here are the pictures!

Annual Handover 2011

9th of July was a joyous occasion for all. It was the day by which the 10th Management Committee officially passed on their duties to the 11th Management Committee. The room was filled with joy and laughter’s as the 11th Management Committee wait on excitedly for the passing on ceremony to be commemorated. It was heartening to know that the new batch of mentors were also there to join us on this joyous occasion.

To start the ball rolling, the new batch of mentors had a mini- mentoring workshop conducted by our guest speaker Mr. Paul Yuen. We were honored to have his presence for he never fails to bring inspiration to us, year after year.

Following which, we had our handover ceremony with lunch (the highlight of course! Haha) thereafter !

Last but not least, we would like to thank Ms Candice Lim for gracing the event and also our fellow guest ! Thank you :)

As they say, pictures speak a thousand words. So here are thousands of words! Hahaha
